Farmers
It comes as no surprise that farmers have a high rate of hearing loss. The reality of living and working on a farm is that you will be around a variety of loud noises that have the potential to cause hearing loss. These can include:
- Tractors – many farmers tell us about their old Chamberlain tractor which they drove without a cab or muffler that made quite a noise.
- Guns
- Machinery
These days there is a greater awareness of hearing protection and the important role it plays in preventing hearing loss. However, for many farmers this awareness has come all too late, and once your hearing is damaged it cannot be repaired. Nevertheless, the good news is that while your hearing cannot be repaired, it can be significantly improved. At Brad Hutchinson Hearing we have many years of experience understanding the particular needs of farmers – both in terms of the causes of your hearing loss, and also the best solutions to withstand the rigours of living and working on a farm.
Farmers experience a range of factors that are less likely to affect those living in urban areas, and many of these factors impact on the choice of an appropriate hearing solution:
- Being outdoors much of the time;
- Working with and around noisy machinery;
- Exposure to dust, moisture, wind and other natural elements;
- Dealing with sweat;
- Moving from very quiet environments (inside) to very noisy environments (working outside).
At Brad Hutchinson Hearing we ask the right questions to provide you with the best hearing solution. We’ve helped numerous farmers to improve their hearing and their quality of life, and we can help you too. Simply contact us to book a hearing assessment and we’ll do the rest.
Ask us about our hearing aids that can even have over-the-phone adjustments performed for those who live remotely.
Tinnitus Patients
Tinnitus is a condition whereby a person hears constant ringing sounds when no actual noise is present. It can be caused by a variety of factors including wax build-up, foreign objects in the ear, ear infections, and noise induced hearing loss, among others. Tinnitus is surprisingly common, with around 18% of Australians affected.
Tinnitus is treatable. Come into Brad Hutchinson Hearing and we will assess your tinnitus and check for possible causes. Where required, we use TRT (Tinnitus Retraining Therapy), noise generators, hearing aids, or a combination of solutions.
Children
Hearing loss can affect a child’s ability to develop communication, language, and social skills. The earlier children with hearing loss start receiving services, the more likely they are to reach their full potential. If you are a parent and you suspect your child has hearing loss, trust your instincts and speak with one of our staff to make an appointment. We are here to help.
